Senior Cook – Maltings Coffee Shop

Overview

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Cook to lead the kitchen team, create fresh and inspiring dishes, and ensure a consistently high standard of food for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proven experience as a Cook, Senior Cook, or Chef in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining high standards.
  • Experience managing kitchen operations, including stock control, food hygiene, and waste reduction.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations (Food Safety Level 2 certification preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A passion for creating fresh, seasonal, and high-quality dishes.
  • Excellent teamwork and leadership skills to guide and support kitchen colleagues.
Skills & Experience

Kitchen Operations

  • Lead the daily preparation, cooking, and presentation of high-quality food items.
  • Ensure all dishes meet consistent standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Manage stock control, including ordering, receiving, and minimizing waste.
  • Support, mentor, and oversee kitchen team members, ensuring a positive and efficient work environment.
  • Train staff on food preparation techniques, hygiene standards, and kitchen best practices.
  • Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining a hands-on leadership approach.
  • Contribute to menu planning with fresh, seasonal, and creative ideas.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment in line with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Ensure all food preparation areas meet Health and Safety standards (HACCP).
  • Respond to customer feedback and adapt where necessary to meet expectations.
  • Manage kitchen workflows to optimize productivity during busy periods.
