  Following the extraordinary success and critical acclaim of Annandale’s Single Cask Single Malt matured in Burgundy Red Wine STR casks, we believe these casks are too special to use only once. As a result, we occasionally release a limited number of Refill STR casks to private cask collectors, offering a unique opportunity to experience a more refined and subtle maturation process.

  Originating from Burgundy, France, these casks previously held red wines made from Pinot Noir grapes. They undergo a specialized process:

  Shaved to expose fresh oak and reduce harsh tannins.
  Toasted lightly to caramelize the wood sugars, enhancing sweetness and fruitiness.
  Re-Charred to create a fresh layer of charcoal, which acts as a natural filter and imparts smoky, roasted depth.
  This STR process produces a whisky with rich fruitiness, sweet vanilla undertones, and subtle warmth from cinnamon and clove.
  Previously bottled STR casks have produced whisky with a distinctive and layered profile, featuring notes of fresh green orchard fruits, creamy richness, and subtle herbal spice. The whisky is floral and perfumed, with hints of Parma violets and red berries, complemented by a fresh menthol palate and candied tropical fruits, creating an elegant and well-balanced dram.
  Annandale Distillery’s STR casks have gained international recognition, with Man O'Sword STR Cask 374 winning Best in Class and a Gold Medal at the World Whiskies Awards Scotland in 2025. In 2023, it received both a Gold and Silver Medal in its category at the San Francisco Spirit Awards, reaffirming the exceptional quality and depth of character found in these casks.
